Welcome
I would like to introduce you to a sampling of my custom woodwork and furniture pieces, and to provide an overview of my commitment to fine woodworking as a discipline and vocation.
My affinity for uncluttered grace that characterizes Shaker furniture, the designs of Hepplewhite, Sheraton, and the Adam brothers is manifest in much of my work. The Queen Ann, and Federal period may be found in my more formal pieces. Although these themes inspire my own designs, much of my custom furniture and cabinetry is the product of a collaborative effort with my clients, normally the end user or professional designer. Together, we achieve a result that best meets their needs, imagination, and taste.
On larger projects I sometimes call on a fellow cabinet maker friend for assistance, thus enabling me to take on the more ambitious consignments.
Attention to proportion and design detail, and a passion for excellence are essential ingredients in building tomorrow's heirlooms today. Merging modern technology, application sensitive finishing techniques with time-honored workmanship, traditional jointery methods, and select materials assures exceptional value in every piece I build. My commitment to excellence is not limited to furniture. I believe the functional cabinetry found in our home, and office should reflect a sense of permanence, beauty, and grace. I would like to think that those following us should inherit something substantial in our wake. Visitors are always welcome at my little piece of earth where the coffee's hot...the dog is friendly...the cat won't scratch ....and hands are crafting in the "Shop in the Woods". Sam McWilliams

My
shop, serenely nestled on 32 acres of woodland in Centerville, Tennessee, serves
me well to handcraft custom furniture pieces and cabinets. I normally work
accompanied only by "Jesse" (right) and "Woodchip", my shop
foreman and mouse catcher (below).
